We are creating a community quilt for Brian McMichael (a.k.a. McDoc, husband of Linda Kernohan), who is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. He had surgery in May, and will likely begin radiation therapy soon. You are invited to leave a message of love and support for Brian on FaceBook -- it will be transcribed in archival ink on muslin and made a part of his quilt. Recipients of our community quilts say that the loving words of their friends (and even strangers!) have a very uplifting and supportive effect.
If you are able to contribute toward the materials and labor for the quilt, here is a PayPal link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=376NGQW96HUAE
$20/message is suggested, but any amount helps. Some give more to cover for messages from those who cannot donate. All messages are welcome. Community quilts are crowdfunded things and somehow it always works out!
We would like to have the messages for Brian's quilt collected within a week, if possible (by Monday, September 18). The quilt will be produced over a couple of weeks after that, and we will post photos when it's complete!
Sara and her sister Ann have been making community quilts for about eight years now. Their project started on the website Daily Kos for its members. A list of their 148 completed quilts can be found here: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/01/05/1466071/-Community-Quilt-Project-Body-of-Work
